On 26 January 2020, H.E Ambassador Dato’ Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar joined a 30 of Malaysians in Paris together with their families and local friends to celebrate Chinese New Year (CNY). Sporting a red changshan, the Ambassador. The annual CNY luncheon organized by the Malaysian Association in France (MAF) was held at Le President Restaurant located on Rue du Faubourg du Temple, Paris.
In his speech, H.E. Dato’ Dr. Azfar said that the celebration of Malaysian festivities showcased the uniqueness of the multicultural society and reflected the true Malaysian spirit where diversity is embraced and celebrated as a source of strength. He also lauded MAF for its effort in preserving camaraderie among Malaysians in France.
Guests also enjoyed “yee sang” tossing ceremony led by Mr. Yap Choon Choong, President MAF. While Chinese New Year celebrations are usually accompanied by lion dance, Malaysians in France made it their tradition to kick start their festivities with silat performances by Culture Silat. How much more Malaysian can that be?
The CNY celebration is one of the main annual festive celebrations organized by MAF. It is also now one of the popular events amongst the Malaysians in Paris and France at large. It was indeed a big “family gathering” bringing Malaysians together!
