LE QUOTIDIEN DU TOURISME - TUESDAY 3 JUNE 2014

When the Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia comes to Paris, the Tourism Office puts out a great spread to introduce him to the French tourism professionals.

It was in the very chic Pré Catelan, located in Paris, in the bois de Boulogne, that the representatives of tour operators ( Asia, Teker…), airline companies (Etihad, Qatar Airways…) and the tourism press met with the dynamic Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia, The Hon. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz, on Tuesday 3 June. Also present at the event was the Ambassador of Malaysia to France, His Excellency Tan Sri Ismail Omar.

It should be noted that France has become a priority for the country. In 2013, with 145,108 visitors, the French market grew by 6.6% compared to 2012. 29,627 French tourists visited Malaysia in January and February, making France the second largest European market, behind Britain and 17th largest market worldwide. To further improve these figures, Malaysia banks on the creation of an eco-responsible resort in Sabah, “which will be a true showcase of environment protection” and the rise of shopping areas in Kuala Lumpur, “the second largest spending item of tourists behind accommodation”.
