MALAYSIA PARTICIPATED IN FINANCIAL ACTION TASK FORCE (FATF) WEEK IN PARIS, FRANCE,16-21 FEBRUARY 2020

On 16-21 February 2020, Malaysia participated in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Week in Paris, France. The Malaysian delegation consisted of Mme. Zarifa Izan Zainol Abidin, Deputy Director, Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM); Mr. Iqtidar Hasanan, Manager, BNM; Ms. Syarmimi Rashid, Analyst, BNM; Ms. Vanitha Mahadevan, Deputy General, Securities Commision of Malaysia; and     Mr. Syed Nizamuddin Sayed Khassim, First Secretary, Embassy of Malaysia in Paris.

 

During the forum, Malaysia made its position clear on efforts undertaken by several countries to curb terror financing, and played an active role in institutionalizing the efforts undertaken by FATF to curb money laundering.

 

The FATF Week was attended by more than 800 representatives from 205 countries and jurisdictions around the world, the IMF, UN, World Bank and other organisations. Among other issues, the international watchdog, which monitors global money laundering and terror financing, will discuss on the present risk to the global financial system.
