.E. Tan Sri Ismail Omar, the Ambassador of Malaysia to France, presented his Credentials to His Excellency Annibal Antonio Cavaco Silva, President of the Portuguese Republic on Friday, 21 March 2014. The ceremony took place at the presidential palace “Palacio de Belem” in Lisbon.
During his visit in Lisbon, H.E. Ambassador made courtesy calls on the Secretary General of the Portuguese Foreign Ministry, Madam Amb Ana Martinho and the Director of Asia of the Ministry, Madam Carla Grijo. He also took the opportunity to meet Mr. Peedro Pessone Costa, Executive Director, Trade and Investment Agency of Portugal.
Prior to the ceremony, His Excellency Ambassador was briefed by the Portuguese Foreign Ministry Chief of Protocol, Mr. Amb. Antonio De Almeida Lima, on palace procedures.
Following the presentation of credentials, H.E. Tan Sri Ismail Omar together with other non-resident Ambassadors accredited to Portugal were accorded with a simple reception hosted by the President. H.E. Ambassador were engaged in conversation with the President , H.E. Rui Machete Portuguese Foreign Minister and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While in Lisbon, H.E. Ambassador took time to meet with Mr. Jorge Santiago Neves, the Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Portugal. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Zamshari Shaharan, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris.
