H.E. Dato’ Ibrahim Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to France, presented his letter of credence to H.E. Mr. François Hollande, President of the French Republic on Monday, 15 February 2016. The ceremony took place at the Elysée Presidential Palace in Paris.
H.E. Dato’ Ibrahim Abdullah is the 17th Malaysian Ambassador to be accredited to France since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1957.
H.E. Dato’ Ibrahim Abdullah was accompanied by Mrs. Anil Fahriza Adenan, Minister Counsellor. The presentation ceremony was also attended by Mr. Harlem Desir, Secretary of State for European Affairs and Mr. Jacques Audibert, Diplomatic Advisor to the President.
Following the presentation of credentials, H.E. Dato’ Ibrahim Abdullah had an audience with the French President H.E. Mr. François Hollande.
Dato’ Ibrahim Abdullah started his service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 1983. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to France, he was the Deputy Secretary General for Bilateral Affairs since March 2015. He was the Deputy Secretary General for Management Services from 2013 to 2015.
Dato’ Ibrahim served as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany from 2010 to 2013, Ambassador of Malaysia to Syria from 2008 to 2010, Undersecretary of OIC Division from 2005 to 2008 and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Nigeria from 2003 to 2005.
Dato’ Ibrahim had also served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, Japan from 2001 to 2003, Charge d’affaires at the Embassy of Malaysia in Khartoum, Sudan from 1999 to 2001 and Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara, Turkey from 1998 to 1999.
A Hi-tea was held after the credentials ceremony at the multi-purpose hall of the Embassy attended by the Embassy’s home-based and locally recruited staff as well as the heads of Malaysian agencies in Paris.
