Despite being far away from home, festive celebrations and patriotic spirits were still much alive among the Malaysian community in France. To mark Malaysia’s 53rd National Day and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a reception was hosted by the Ambassador of Malaysia to France, H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, at his official residence, Rumah Malaysia on Friday 17 September 2010.
More than 500 guests attended the reception, comprising senior French government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, including those from the ASEAN embassies as well as captains of industry. The guests included about 300 Malaysians residing and studying in France. The Ambassador and his wife, Puan Sri Rositah Md Mawi were on hand to receive the guests.
The guests were feted to a sumptuous Hari Raya buffet of rendang, nasi minyak, dalca, acar, nasi impit, satay, kuah kacang, teh tarik and Hari Raya cookies, as well as Malaysian jackfruit and papaya. The French guests had a great time sampling the variety of Malaysian traditional food and drinks served. The various Malaysian dishes and savouries gave the celebration a festive ambiance reflecting the spirit of 1Malaysia.
The Malaysian guests also took the opportunity to get acquainted with the new Ambassador and his wife as well as other fellow Malaysians. The reception was indeed a big ‘family gathering’ bringing Malaysians together!
The Ambassador and his wife wishes to express their utmost sincere gratitude to all those who have helped in making the reception a success. To all those who attended, thank you all for coming.
