On 24 February 2018, the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food invited Agriculture Ministers and representatives from Embassies to the opening of the Paris International Agricultural Show (French: Salon International de l'Agriculture, or SIA). The SIA is one of the world’s largest and most important agricultural shows. After the opening ceremony featuring prized farm animals, guests were given a guided tour of the SIA. Malaysia was grouped with Hungary, Indonesia, Poland, and Mali during the tour.
During the guided tour, the group had opportunities to engage with the French agricultural research and international cooperation organization working for the sustainable development of tropical and Mediterranean regions (CIRAD), the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), the French Agricultural Cooperative (La Coopération Agricole en France) and the French Agency for the Development and Promotion of Organic Agriculture (l’Agence française pour le développement et la promotion de l’agriculture biologique).
