Following the series of explosions in Brussels, the Embassy of Malaysia in France would like to advise Malaysian citizens in France to maintain a high level of vigilance, be aware of local developments, take heed of any warnings or advice issued by local authorities and take the appropriate steps to bolster their personal safety.
The current situation in France is calm and under control. The French government continues to operate under a state of emergency since the Paris attacks in November 2015. Subsequent to the Brussels attacks earlier today, the French government has announced that it would deploy 1,600 additional security personnel to border crossings including air, sea and rail infrastructures. This includes 400 extra police and gendarmes in the region around Paris. As such, travelers can anticipate tighter security controls and delays at borders and access to public as well as touristic areas.
For Malaysian citizens residing in France, the Embassy would like to strongly encourage you to register with the Embassy, if you have not done so. Malaysian travelers to France, whatever the reason and duration of the stay, are also encourage to do the same.
