On 16 March 2021, H.E. Ambassador Dato' Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar witnessed Malaysia's signing of the Convention on the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation by the Minister of Transport, YB Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong. The event, held in Putrajaya was also attended by H.E. Roland Galharague, Ambassador of France to Malaysia, on behalf of the Government of France.
Also witnessing the ceremony on-line were Ambassador Serge Segura, France's Ambassador for the Oceans; Mr. Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet, Deputy Director of United Nations, International Organizations, Human Rights and Francophonie; and Mr. Francis Zachariae, Secretary General of IALA.
With the signing of this Convention, Malaysia hopes to play a bigger role in improving modern navigation standards through multilateral approach.
