Measat-3b, a Malaysian telecommunication satellite, was successfully launched from the Guiana Space Centre (CSG) Kourou, French Guiana at 0621 p.m, 11th September,2014 ( 0521 am.,12th Sept,2014,MYT). Arianespace launched into orbit Measat-3b which is the third satellite launched by Arianespace for the operator Measat Global Berhad ( Measat ) , following Measat-1 and Measat-2 in January and November, 1996.
2. Measat 3b was built by Airbus Defence and Space Centre on a Eurostar 3000 L platform. It is fitted with 48 Ku-band transponders and one experimental S-band payload. It is a powerful state of the art telecommunication satellite commissioned by Measat Global Berhad.(MGB). It will more than double MGB capacity to meet the increasing requirements of Direct To Home (DTH) services. From its orbital position at 91.5 degrees East, Measat-3b will provide telecommunications and direct to home (DTH) broadcast services to Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Australia. Alongside the Measat-3 and Measat-3a satellites,it will also considerably increase the operator's DTH capacity in the Asian market. The contractual life of Measat 3b is of about 15 years.

It was founded in 1980 and now has 21 shareholders from ten European countries.Since the outset , Arianespace has signed more than 390 launch contracts and launched 490 satellites.More than two thirds of the commercial satellites now in service worldwide was launched by Arianespace.In French Guiana, Arianespace is the contracting authority in charge of operating the family of three launchers, Ariane, Soyuz and Vega.
5. For 40 years, the Guiana Space Centre (CSG) is Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.This centre offered a complete array if facilities fir rocket launches.
6. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communication and Multi Media, Dato Jailani Johari lead the Malaysian delegation to French Guiana to witness the successful launching of the Measat 3b satellite. Accompanying him were Tan Sri Ismaii Omar,the Malaysian Ambassador to France, Datuk Umar Hj Abu, Independent Director of MGB and other representatives of the MCMM, telecommunication and broadcasting companies, financial institutions and members of the media.After this successful launching of Measat 3b, it is expected to be operational by middle of October, 2014.
