Second Finance Minister YB Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani visited the Chancery and held a meeting with the heads of agency on 27 January 2017. During the meeting, YBhg Ambassador Datuk Ibrahim Abdullah briefed YB Datuk Johari on the status of the bilateral relations between Malaysia and France followed by a good exchange of views on various matters of interest with the heads of agency namely Tourism Malaysia, MIDA, JPA, Defence and Permanent Delegation of Malaysia to UNESCO.
The visit to the Chancery was part of the programme of YB Datuk Johari’s visit to Paris in conjunction with the 2nd Meeting on the Inclusive Framework (IF) for global Implementation of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Action Plan that was held from January 25-27 at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). During the meeting, YB Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani announced Malaysia’s participation in the Framework as BEPS Associates. The participation provides the opportunity for Malaysia to move forward on equal footing with OECD countries and influence the shaping of international tax rules to tackle BEPS issues.
