Working Visit of the President of the Senate

 to France

 from 05 to 08 November 2007.

 

 

The President of the Malaysian Senate, YB Dato? Seri Dr. Abdul Hamid Pawanteh arrived in Paris on Monday, 5 November  2007 for a four-day official visit to France from 5 to 8 November 2007.

 

2. YB Dato? Seri Dr. Abdul Hamid Pawanteh and his wife YBhg. Puan Sri Elham Hamid Abdullah were received on arrival at the Charles de Gaulle airport by Malaysian Ambassador to France & Portugal, H.E. Dato? S. Thanarajasingam.

 

3. The President of the Senate was also accompanied by five senators including YB Datuk Chew Vun Ming, YB Tuan Hiang A Li, Tuan Ahmad bin Hussin, YB Dato? Gooi Hoe Hin, YB Dato? Soon Tian Szu as well as officials from the Senate.   

 

4. The visit of YB Dato? Seri Dr. Abdul Hamid Pawanteh to France is at the invitation of his French counterpart, HE Mr. Christian Poncelet who had visited Malaysia on 19 and 20 March 2007.  The visit will enhance efforts to deepen and strengthen contacts and cooperation between the Parliamentarians in Malaysia and France.  

 

5. During their stay, the Malaysian Senate President will have consultations with H.E. Mr. Christian Poncelet, the President of the French Senate at the prestigious Salon de la Presidence of the Senate followed by a salute during a public session of the Senate. The delegation will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition of ?Archimboldo? at the Museum of Luxembourg, the Senate?s museum. A dinner in honour of the Senate?s President and delegation will be hosted by Malaysian Ambassador to France & Portugal, H.E. Dato? S. Thanarajasingam at Rumah Malaysia on Tuesday evening.

 

6. On the third day of his visit, YB Dato? Seri Dr. Abdul Hamid Pawanteh will hold discussions with Mr. Didier Boulaud, Deputy Chairman of the Friendship Group of the Senate and meet with Mr. Jacques Dermagne, President of the French Economic and Social Council.

 

7. Other activities which await the delegation also include a visit to the Louvre Museum, the Chateau de Versailles as well as a boat ride on River Seine.

 

8. The Malaysian Senate President and delegation depart Paris on Thursday, 8 November 2007 after attending a Deepavali Open House luncheon at Rumah Malaysia.
