On 28 February 2018, the ASEAN Ambassadors including H.E. Datuk Ibrahim Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to France, participated in a working visit organized by Vinci. Vinci is a French global player in concessions and construction. The company designs, finances, builds, and operates infrastructure as well as facilities that help improve daily life and mobility for all.
The briefing at Vinci headquarters and lunch with Mr. Xavier Huillard, Chairman and CEO of VINCI, allowed the ASEAN Ambassadors to learn more about the global activities of VINCI with special focus on the ASEAN region. During the briefing, Vinci provided information on their business presence and activities among which includes holding 70% of the Cambodia Airports (SCA) concessionary entity until 2040. The other 30% is held by Muhibbah Masteron, a Malaysian-Cambodian joint venture.
Vinci also highlighted their completed and ongoing projects in Malaysia which includes the 700,000 sq. metre Berjaya Times Square complex in Malaysia which is Asia's largest residential and shopping complex in a single phase; and their strategy for the future. After the briefing, the ASEAN Ambassadors had a productive discussion with Mr. Xavier Huillard.
The sessions at Vinci headquarters was preceded by a visit to the Louis Vuitton foundation and followed by the concluding visit to the A86 Duplex. Both those visits showcased the innovative technological prowess of Vinci. In order to construct the Louis Vuitton foundation with the complex shapes as designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, Vinci found solutions to the technical challenges from the initial conception of the project right through to its finishing touches. Built by Vinci, the A86 Duplex is a tunnel that connects major economic hubs in the Paris region. With the one-way traffic flow system, the risk of head-on collisions is eliminated in the tunnel. Vinci is also the concessionaire for it as well.
