H.E. Tan Sri Ismail Omar, Ambassador of Malaysia to France, accompanied by Cik Zabidah Daud, Director of MIDA; Cik Diana Talit, Director of Matrade; and Encik Abdul Rahim Haron, Director of Tourism Malaysia Paris made a working visit to Marseille from 3 to 5 February 2014.
On Tuesday, 4 February 2014, H.E. Ambassador visited the Airbus Helicopters Facility and Training Services located at Marignane in the Marseille suburb. His Excellency and delegation were received by the Mr. Jean-Pierre de Bono, the Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Marseille; Mr Charles Lebot and Mrs Karine de Bono, Airbus Helicopters representatives. During the visit, His Excellency went to a factory guided tour of the Dauphine, Super Puma and the Ecureuil Assembly lines and visited the Airbus Helicopter Simulation Center.
H.E. Ambassador also attended a meeting with the Regional Council of the Provences Alpes Côte d’Azur region. Present at the meeting were Mr. Bernard Morel, Vice-President of the Council and Mr. Michel Tarran, the Council’s Diplomatic Counsellor. Later in the evening, H.E. Ambassador hosted a reception for the Malaysian community at the Radisson Blu Hotel Marseille Vieux Port.
On Wednesday, 5 February 2014, H.E. Ambassador and delegation participation in a “Breakfast Meeting” with Mr. Jacques Rocaserra, President of the International Affairs of the Municipality of Marseille. After the meeting, H.E. Ambassador led the delegation to a mini seminar on ‘Trade and Investment Opportunities in Malaysia’ held at the Chamber of Commerce International (CCI) of Marseille. There were 40 people who attended the seminar comprising members of the CCI of Marseille and captains of industry based in the region. At the seminar, a presentation on “‘Trade and Investment Opportunities in Malaysia’ was given by Cik Zabidah Daud, Director of MIDA; Cik Diana Talit, Director of Matrade and Encik Abdul Rahim Haron, Director of Tourism Malaysia Paris and followed by a Q & A session.
While in Marseille, H.E. Ambassador also met with Mr. Rene Olmette, Vice-President of the Conseil General of Bouches-du-Rhone and attended a dinner hosted by the Mr. Jean-Pierre de Bono, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Marseille.
