LONDON 11 August 2011: The High Commission of Malaysia to the United Kingdom have taken the initiative to hold a press conference due to huge number of requests from the media to approach Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Haziq Rossli after the video of his unfortunate attack by a gang of local youth in Barking area, East London was posted on the Internet. Within hours the video of his unfortunate ordeal quickly went viral on the internet and has grabbed the attention of the public and media across the globe.
The press conference was attended by journalists from the local and foreign media. Also present at the press conference was YB Sanator Gan Pin Sieu, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports who is in London for the 2011 World Badminton Championship. Prior to the press conference, His Excellency the High Commissioner of Malaysia to the United Kingdom, Datuk Zakaria Sulong and also His Excellency the British High Commissioner to Malaysia Mr. Simon Featherstone visited Mr. Ashraf Haziq Rossli who was recovering at London.
