TIPS TO KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS SAFE

While travelling, loss or theft of important items (credit cards, travel documents, electronic devices etc.) is a stressful occurrence.

• Keep your valuables secure and out of sight. Zips on bags should face inwards.
• Only take what is necessary when going out and never carry large sums of cash with you.
• Never leave your bag, mobile or any essential item unattended in public view.
• Avoid being overloaded with packages, shopping bags, etc.
• Do not keep all your valuables in one place and be sure to separate money and documents.
• Keep a copy of important documents, like passports, in case of loss or theft and consider storing them electronically.

*Pay attention to your belongings especially in metro or bus stations and main tourist attractions.

IN CASE OF LOSS OR THEFT

Although you may take all the necessary precautions, items might still be stolen or lost.

• You need to go the nearest polizia (police) or carabinieri (military police) station to file a report right away with local authorities.
• In case of loss or theft of travel documents, you will need to contact the consular section of the Embassy or email and request an Emergency Certificate.
