16 October 2025 :- The Consulate General of Malaysia, Chennai, under Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN 2025, successfully hosted the India - ASEAN Film Festival 2025 as part of ASEAN INDIA Year of Tourism 2025 today at Avichi College of Arts and Science, Chennai, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, India Tourism, and Avichi College of Arts and Science.
The film festival aims to strengthen cultural cooperation and people-to-people connectivity between ASEAN Member States and India through the power of cinema — a medium that celebrates storytelling, diversity, and shared human experiences.
Films representing Malaysia, India, Thailand, and Singapore reflecting the culture and creativity of ASEAN and Indian cinema. The lineup featured:
• Malaysia: Walid, Mencari Ramlee
• India: 12th Fail, Ponniyin Selvan
• Thailand: Time to Fly
• Singapore: Ah Boys to Men
The India ASEAN Film Festival 2025 underscores Malaysia’s continued commitment to promoting ASEAN unity, cultural diplomacy, and regional cooperation with India under the ASEAN–India partnership framework.
