On Saturday 21 April 2018, upon the invitation from the International Institute of Tamil Studies, Chennai, the Consul General attended the Valedictory Ceremony on Pedagogy of Tamil Language and Literature for Malaysian Tamil students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The ceremony was graced by Honourable D. Jayakumar, Minister of Fisheries and Administrative Reform. Joining the ceremony on behalf of UPSI was Prof. Dr.Mahzan bin Arshad, Dean of Languages and Communications Faculty. A total of 12 undergraduate students from UPSI participated the programme. UPSI has started Bachelor of Education in Tamil Language (Hons) in 2010 under Tamil programme, a unit of Modern Languages Department in Faculty of Languages and Communication.
