The Consulate General of Malaysia hosted the National Day Reception in conjunction of 51^st National Day Celebration at Hotel Taj Coromandel, Chennai, on 31^st August 2008.  There were about 200 invitees attended  the reception which comprised of diplomats, government officials, business community, prominent individuals as well as representative of Malaysian students. The reception was held at the Ballroom of the hotel from 7.30 pm till 9.00 pm with some reflection of Malaysian colours including display of big screen about Malaysia as a tourist destination as well as distribution of pamphlet about Malaysia. Other Malaysian agencies in Chennai such as MATRADE, Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines also took part in the event and the reception was successfully held.
