The Consul General for South India in Chennai hosted the Hari Raya Open House at his residence on Sunday, 18 September, 2011 from 4pm onwards. About 100 Malaysians and guests were attended the function. The programme also was part of the Program Mendampingi Rakyat which the prime is to achieve the objective under 1Malaysia motto by meeting and get-to-gether as well as exchange their greetings and sharing information for the benefit of the Malaysian Community in South India. The invitation was also extended to the Malaysians who are living outside Chennai and some of them were willing to travel for hundreds of kms to join the event.
As usual the host served Malaysian dishes according to Hari Raya custom, this included ketupat pulut, lemang, rendang ayam, mee hoon soup, biriyani chicken and mutton, several types of cakes, biscuits, sweets and kuih raya which specially brought from Malaysia.
