The Consulate General Office of Chennai wishes to bring to the attention of potential job seekers in India about job offers that are being received via email which turns out to be fake offers. We wish to remind potential job seekers that the Malaysian Government does not impose any payment to be made in advance to any of its Department. A potential employee is only required to come to the nearest Malaysian Missions in India to get their visas by paying the prescribed amount upon approval by the relevant authorities in Malaysia.
The number of enquiries is steadily rising as can be seen from the chart below. The first half of the year 2012 had a total of 357 enquiries which was more than the total received for the year 2011. This is a worrying trend and potential job seekers are advised not to fall prey to this unscrupulous people who abuse the internet facilities to cheat innocent job seekers.
Modus Operandi
These thieves make use of established companies to lure innocent job seekers by offering them high salaries and without conducting any interviews for jobs in these companies. They will request the job seekers to bank in the amount to accounts either in Malaysia or India which they promise to refund on arrival in Malaysia. They will also provide you phone numbers to contact and on calling will convince the potential job seekers. The moment the money is transferred the potential job seeker will not be able to contact the number.
