YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture visited Chennai on 14 till 16 February 2015 with a 40 member delegation to attend the Edison Film Award in Chennai. During the award ceremony YB Dato’ Seri had officially launched the Malaysia Year of Festival (MYFEST) 2015 in Chennai and welcomed everyone to visit Malaysia.
YB Dato’ Seri had also led the delegation and officiated the Sales Mission to Chennai besides Mumbai. The Culture troupe from Istana Budaya had presented several Malaysian cultural performances and a fashion show by Malaysian designer YBhg. Datin Kirana. The Edison Award was witnessed by invited dignitaries and local guest, film producers, actors and large local audience.
Malaysian companies from the States of Selangor, Perak and Johor participated in the Travel Mart where the Buyers meet Sellers session was held. 18 travel agents, 15 hoteliers, Malaysian airline companies and other product owners such as Marina Putrajaya, Legoland, Sunway Lost City Ipoh, Sunway Lagoon Water Park PJ & Themed Attraction & Resort participated to sell their products.
Besides the main program, YB Dato’ Seri met the Malaysian students in Chennai and hosted a lunch dialogue session with the students. YB Dato’ Seri also launched the first branch in India of a Malaysian company, SLV Travel and Tours Private Limited in Chennai.
