SEMINAR ON NUCLEAR DETERRENCE AND DISARMAMENT ORGANISED BY CENTRE FOR SECURITY ANALYSIS (CSA)

The Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Anuar Kasman attended the Discussion on Nuclear Deterrence and Disarmament organised by Centre for Security Analysis (CSA) on Monday, 2nd February, 2009 at GRT Convention Centre, Chennai.   This programme was the part of CSA’s activities.  A large number of Government officials, Military personnel and members of Diplomatic Corps were present. 

 

During the Seminar the Guest speaker elaborated that between the deterrence and disarmament which has been two separate discourses and contradictory themes.  The speaker explained that while deterrence was voice of the powerful and disarmament considered as voice of the weak.  The speaker further elaborated that the realization of the deterrence based purely on nuclear weapons.  However, the issue of disarmament and challenges are only faced by the Non state actor.

 

The seminar on Nuclear deterrence and disarmament organised by CSA has given quiet clear picture about relationship between disarmament and deterrence.

 

 Before the close of session all participants were invited for lunch in the same venue.
