THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF MALAYSIA IN CHENNAI CELEBRATED 52ND MALAYSIAN NATIONAL DAY ON 25 SEPTEMBER 2009 AT THE ACCORD METROPOLITAN HOTEL, CHENNAI

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Chennai hosted a reception in conjunction of 52^nd Malaysian National Day on 25 September 2009 at The Accord Metropolitan Hotel, Chennai.  The reception was deffered to 25 September 2009 from the actual date of 31 August due to the month of Ramadhan. 

The reception was attended by nearly 200 guests including members of diplomatic circles, local dignitaries, business community, prominent figures as well as Malaysian community and Malaysian students living in Southern India.  The programme started with Lagu Negara Ku and then followed by the National Anthem of India.  All HBS attached to the Consulate General of Malaysia in Chennai sang a  Lagu Negara Ku on the stage.  The Consul General delivered his speech to the guests touching about 1Malaysia as well as bilateral relations between Malaysia and India.

During the reception various kinds of food was served to the guests which included Malaysian dishes like satay, mee goring, nasi goring, teh tarik and Malaysian home made sweets and cakes prepared by PERWAKILAN.

For the first time, Malaysian students from outside Chennai also participated in the reception.  Malaysian students from Mangalore (800 kms from Chennai) and Devangiri (600 kms from Chennai) in the Karnataka state came all the way to join other Malaysian community in the celebration.  The students also attended the Hari Raya Open House hosted by the Consul General of Malaysia on the following day, Saturday 26 September, 2009.
