16 September 2025 – The Consulate General of Malaysia in Chennai successfully hosted a grand reception in celebration of Malaysia’s 68th National Day and 62nd Malaysia Day on 16 September 2025 at the Grand Ballroom, Leela Palace, Chennai.
The evening reception brought together over 250 distinguished guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, business leaders, media representatives, and friends of Malaysia.
The celebration was graced by Thiru T. Mano Thangaraj, Minister of Milk and Dairy Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, as the Guest of Honour. In his address, he commended the longstanding friendship between Malaysia and India, particularly with Tamil Nadu, and expressed optimism for greater collaboration in the future.
In his remarks, Mr. Saravana Kumar Kumaravasagam, Consul General of Malaysia in Chennai, reflected on Malaysia’s role as Chair of ASEAN 2025, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to advancing regional peace, prosperity, and unity. He also highlighted the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) initiative, warmly inviting Indian travelers, especially from Tamil Nadu and South India, to experience Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse tourism offerings.
