The Malaysian Consulate General hosted the 54th Malaysian National Day
Reception on Saturday, 17 September 2011
The Consul General hosted the 54th National Day Reception on 17 September 2011 at the Sheraton Park Hotel and Towers, Chennai. The reception was held in conjunction with the 54th Malaysian National Day and Malaysia Day which falls on 31 August and 16 September respectively. About 180 guests who attended the function comprised members of the Diplomatic Corps, senior government officials, prominent figures from the local community, entrepreneurs as well as Malaysians residing in Chennai. Selected Malaysian students from each university in Chennai were also invited to attend the function.
The programme began with the recital of Doa, video presentation on Tourism Malaysia, welcoming address by the Consul General and followed by the National Anthem of India and Malaysia. The function was held along with the Hari Raya festivity and the Consulate General had prepared special dishes including Lemang, Roti Jala, Mee Goreng, nasi empet and several others. Specialties for dessert mainly reflected the Malaysian biscuits, sweets as well as kuih raya and dodol were brought from Malaysia.
