WORKING VISIT OF YAB CHIEF MINISTER OF PERAK TO CHENNAI AND HYDERABAD FROM 13 TILL 18 MARCH 2015
YAB. Dato Seri DiRaja Zambry Bin Abdul Kadir, Chief Minister (CM) of the State of Perak, Malaysia accompanied by Y.B. Dato Seri S.K. Devamany - Speaker, State Legislative Assembly, Y.B. Dato’ Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid - State Minister, Industry, Investment & Corridor Development, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Muhammad Hafni Ibrahim - Chief Executive of InvestPerak, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Elango a/l Vadiveloo - Advisor to the Chief Minister of Perak on Indian Affairs, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Dr. Subramaniam, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Dr. V.G.Kumar Das, Personal Assistant to the Chief Minister of Perak and senior officials from the State Economic Planning Unit - Senior Manager, Investment Promotion InvestPerak State Director, Malaysia Investment Development Authority - State Director and Ministry of International Trade & Industry was on a Working Visit to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kochin and Hyderabad from 13 till 18 March 2015.
2. The main objective of YAB CM’s visit and the delegation was to promote inbound investments to the State of Perak. They wanted to meet, discuss and collaborate for greater cooperation in trade and investments with potential investors in South India generally. During this working visit to 3 states in South India.
3. In Chennai, YAB CM had chaired the Roundtable Business Luncheon Meeting which was held on 14 March 2015. This business meeting was attended by Senior Government Officials from Tamil Nadu Government, 130 business people from Confederation of Indian Investors, SICCI, FICCI, Media and Malaysian business people based in Chennai. The objective of the Roundtable Business meeting was to promote mainly the new green field projects, renewable energy, inviting to do business in the Industrial Park and Cluster Developments, port development, ICT sector, education, pharmacy, tourism and eco-tourism, and others. YAB CM invited investors to explore opportunities in the state, which he explained has a huge potential in agro-food processing, petrochemicals, automobiles and infrastructure among others.
4. YAB CM paid a courtesy call on 13 March 2015 on CM of Tamil Nadu and was held in a cordial manner. During the Courtesy Call YAB CM had emphasised that there are huge business opportunities that could be explored between the two States. YAB CM also stated about the large number of Malaysian students studying in Tamil Nadu and a total of 5,000 students in South India pursuing medicine and dentistry courses, and emphasised that Malaysia is also looking to collaborate with Universities in Tamil Nadu in other specialisations.
6. In Hyderabad, a seminar on Business Opportunities was hosted by YAB CM on 17 March 2015 and a large number of business entrepreneurs, investors and important dignitaries attended the session and welcomed the presence of Malaysia in Hyderabad. The outcome in Hyderabad was also very successful with many interested investors wanting to partner in business in Perak.
7. YAB CM also paid a Courtesy Call on Honourable N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP). CM N. Chandrababu Naidu welcomed investment from Malaysia to AP.
The visit by YAB CM of the State of Perak had a very successful outcome in both the States of Chennai and Hyderabad, AP.
