YB Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry led a delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and the relevant agencies to the 2nd D8 Agricultural Ministers Meeting in Tehran, 17-19 May 2011. The issue on Food Security was the center of the discussion and D8 is to strategize and map out a plan of action to mitigate its threat to the developing countries. While in Tehran YB Dato’ Noh had the opportunity to meet with President Ahmadinejad and had dinner with the Malaysian community at Rumah Malaysia. YB. Dato’ Noh also held bilateral meeting with his Iranian counterpart Dr. Sadiq Khalilian to explore further cooperation in Agriculture. Both sides agreed to activate the MoU signed in 2007 and Iran also agreed to facilitate entry of Malaysian agricultural products in the Iran market. Indonesia had offered to host the next meeting scheduled for September 2012. The 1st D8 Agricultural Ministers Meeting was held in Malaysia in 2009.
