56th National Day Reception, Tehran, 30 Sept. 2013

The Embassy hosted the 56^th National Day reception recently at the official residence of Amb. Sadik Gany. The reception was graced by the Deputy Foreign Minister (Asia Pacific & CIS countries) Mr. Ibrahim Rahimpour. About 350 guests attended the reception including resident Ambassadors and UN bodies, Chief of Protocol, Director General (Asia Pacific), DG (Latin Americas), DG (Human Rights), Deputy Mayor of Tehran, some MPs, Academicians, Businessman, Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Medias and Malaysian community in Iran. In his welcoming remark, Amb. Sadik spoke about strengthening further Malaysia-Iran bilateral economic relations and Malaysia’s concept of the Global Movement of the Moderates (GMM). DFM Rahimpour spoke about Malaysia being Iran’s priority country in its foreign policy and similarity between Malaysia’s GMM and President Rohani’s idea of a “World Against Violent and Extremism” (WAVE) which the later introduced at the recent 68^th UNGA in New York. The guests were also entertained to a video clip featuring ‘Visit Malaysia Year 2014’.
