As nature changes its dress to green and as camellia, tulips and other spring flowers decorated the garden with their lovely colours and scents, the Embassy of Malaysia led the ASEAN family in organizing the ASEAN Food and Handicraft charity bazaar marking the early breeze of spring.  Besides the six ASEAN resident missions (Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia), other Asian embassies including China, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, Bangladesh also enthusiastically participated in the bazaar.  The chosen theme was Eat and Shop for Charity”. Puan Jakkiah Sadik together with the spouses of other ASEAN Ambassadors cut the ribbon to open the bazaar officially.  The crowd later sang to the tune of the ASEAN song ‘ASEAN Way’. Not less than 300 guests including locals, diplomats and expatriates had thronged the numerous selections of sumptuous food and handicrafts stalls. Popular demand include soto, lodeh, sushi, kimchi, curry puff, bakso, tomyam, noodles.  Malaysian batik scarves too were a craze from among the locals.  The crowds were especially thrilled by the numerous raffle draws donated by the ASEAN Ambassadors.  The grand finale was a return air-ticket (KL – Tehran) courtesy of Air AsiaX. A local national TV network and print Medias who covered the event described it as extremely ‘successful for a noble cause’ as the proceeds from the bazaar will be donated to several orphanages home. Such resounding success would not have been possible if not for proper planning, coordination and team work. Kudos to the ASEAN Technical Committee! Truly you have displayed "ASEAN: One Community, One Destiny".
