The 53rd National Day Celebration cum Iftar session with the Malaysian community in Tehran was held at Rumah Malaysia on 1 September 2010. H.E. Mr. Mohamad Sadik Kethergany, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Islamic Republic of Iran hosted the modest yet significant dinner. About 40 Malaysian expatriates, officers and staffs of the embassy were present.
It was an eventful evening which started with Iftar, followed by the Maghrib prayer. Thereafter, guests were served with Malaysian cuisine which was prepared by the PERWAKILAN. After dinner, Ambassador Sadik made a short remark touching on the theme of the 53rd National Day: “1 Malaysia: Transforming the Nation”. He also advised the Malaysian community to continue to uphold the good image of the country which is generally held in high esteemed in Iran. Amb. Sadik also mooted the idea of establishing a Malaysian Association in Tehran (MAT) for social networking among Malaysians given their increasing number in Iran. He also took the opportunity to brief the attendees on the embassy’s contingency plan in the event of an emergency situation such as earthquake.
