TURNING TEHRAN TROPICAL

On 9 July 2024, the Embassy of Malaysia in Tehran hosted an event called "Tropical Treats", thanks to the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA) of Malaysia for sponsoring this event.  The primary objectives of the "Tropical Treats" event were to showcase Malaysian tropical fruits, especially durian, to the Iranian market with a view to establish and strengthen trade relationships between Malaysia and Iran as well as to explore the potentials for expanding Malaysia's durian market in Iran.  The Ambassador of Malaysia to the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Khairi Omar introduced the concept of "Durian Diplomacy," explaining how Malaysia leverages its beloved durian to enhance diplomatic relations and foster goodwill among nations and the people.  The positive response and interest from Iranian representatives highlighted the opportunities for significant economic gains, reinforcing Malaysia's strategic efforts to expand its presence in the region.
