Registration of Death
Report death at the nearest Police Station.

Information and documents required are as follows :

The Consular Division, with the assistance of the respective Malaysian Mission abroad will investigate the death. Relative/next of kin of the deceased will need to decide the place of burial, abroad or in
Burial in
- The Consular Division, with the assistance of the respective Malaysian
Mission abroad will obtain the estimated cost of the repatriation which will
have to deposited by the relative/next of kin to the Consular Division. A
receipt will be issued.
- The respective
- The Consular Division will notify the family on the flight details for the arrival
of the remains.
Burial Abroad
- The Consular Division will instruct the respective
burial process.
- All cost incurred will have to be borned by the relative/next of kin which have
to paid to the Consular Division. A receipt will be issued.
- The Consular the Division will submit the following documents to the relative /
next of kin :
- Acknowledgment letter from the respective
- Certificate of health
- Certificate of Death
- Certificate of Burial
- Death Report
- Copy of Passport / Identification Card (original document will be

Among the information required for the report are as follows :
- Complete name of person
- Place and date of birth
- Details of the Malaysian Passport
- Identification Card number
- Date departed from Malaysia
- Date of arrival at the particular country
- Complete address and telephone number at the particular ( if available)
- Last known address of the place of work (if available)
- Name and address of family to be contacted in Malaysia
- Name, address and telephone number of the person making the report / government
agency involved
- Reason for going abroad
The Consular Division will seek assistance from the respective Malaysian Mission to investigate the case. The family will be informed of the result of the investigation.
If found, the family will have to bear the cost of bringing the person home (flight ticket & other costs incurred). The money need to be deposited to the Consular Division and a receipt will be issued.
The family will be informed of the details of arrival. The family will have to wait to receive the person at the airport or other entry points in

- Telephone number of place of arrest/detained
- Cause of arrest/detention
The Consular Division will seek assistance from the respective Malaysian Mission to investigate. The family will be notified of result of the investigation.
If the family requires legal assistance or need to visit the arrested/detained person, the application need to be submitted to the Consular Division. All cost incurred will be borned by the family.
After completion of sentence (if found guilty), the person will be deported back to
- Deposit the required amount to the Consular Division. A receipt will be
issued.
- The family will be informed of the details of arrival. The family will have to
wait to receive the person at the airport or other entry points in
Registration of Absent Voters
Registration of voters for Malaysians abroad is divided into 2 categories:
Postal Voters / Absent Voters consists of :
i) Arm Forces who are in service
ii) Spouses to (i)
iii) Government personnel (Federal Government, States Service or Local
Authorities) who are in service abroad
iv) Spouses to (iii)
v) Individuals studying full time in Universities, Technical Colleges, Training
Institutions or other bodies abroad (only if they are sponsored by the
Government)
vi) Spouses to (v).

Malaysian Missions abroad will make the announcement for the registration and checking
of the voting list.
