The Executive Board (EB) of the ASEAN – Korea Centre (AKC) convened its 60th Meeting on 23 April 2026, marking another important milestone in the AKC’s efforts to advance cooperation between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea. In line with ASEAN’s annual rotational chairmanship, the Philippines formally assumed the Chairmanship of the Executive Board for the 2026 term.

Malaysia was represented at the meeting by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul, who serves as Malaysia’s representative on the Executive Board. The meeting brought together representatives from all ASEAN Member States and the Republic of Korea to review the Centre’s activities and strategic direction for the year ahead

A key focus of the meeting was the consideration of the programme line-up that had earlier been endorsed by the Council of Directors during its meeting in February 2026. Board members undertook a detailed review of the various initiatives and activities scheduled for implementation throughout the year, examining their objectives, scope, expected outcomes and alignment with the broader priorities of ASEAN – ROK cooperation.
