On 8 June 2026, His Excellency Dato' Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the ROK, hosted a dinner at Rumah Malaysia in honour of the delegation from the Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET), headed by YB Datuk Ewon Benedick, Deputy Chief Minister III and State Minister. The dinner was held in conjunction with the Ministry's working visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) from 8 to 11 June 2026.
The primary objectives of the visit are to explore strategic partnerships, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and strengthen bilateral ties between the State of Sabah and the ROK's industrial and transport sectors.
During the gathering, the Ambassador and the delegation exchanged views on broader bilateral matters, including current security and crime trends involving Sabahans, while pivoting to specific ways to attract potential investment inflows, accelerate regional economic development, and identify new market opportunities for Sabah's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
