The Sarawak Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), led by YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah, Deputy Premier, Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, undertook a working visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) from 28 May to 3 June 2026. The visit aimed to secure strategic foreign direct investments, explore technological collaborations, and further enhance bilateral economic ties between the State of Sarawak and leading ROK industrial sectors.
On 30 May 2026, His Excellency Dato' Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the ROK, hosted a dinner for the delegation at Rumah Malaysia. During the dinner, the Ambassador and the delegation exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, focusing primarily on accelerating industrial partnerships, expanding market access for Sarawakian enterprises, and exploring new growth sectors in semiconductors, green energy, digital economy infrastructure, and sustainable resource management.
The discussions also highlighted how Sarawak’s rich natural resources and clean energy initiatives complement the ROK's advanced technological expertise. This engagement underscores the ongoing efforts by the Embassy to facilitate state-level economic strategies, particularly in positioning Sarawak as a premier regional hub for sustainable industries and high-tech investments.
