Members of the Council of Directors (CD), the highest decision-making body of the ASEAN – Korea Centre (AKC), convened at the The Westin Josun Seoul in downtown Seoul on 11 February 2026 to deliberate on a range of key issues concerning the Centre’s operations and future direction.
Malaysia was represented by Mr. Fairuz Adli Mohd Rozali, Deputy Director-General of the ASEAN – Malaysia National Secretariat. Also in attendance was Mr. Nazarudin Jaafar, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul, who serves concurrently as a Member of the AKC Executive Board. The meeting was opened by Malaysia as the outgoing Chair of the CD before it was officially handed over to the Philippines as the current Chair of ASEAN 2026.
During the half-day session, Council members reviewed and endorsed the AKC’s work programmes and budget for the Fiscal Year 2026. Discussions also covered the participation of Timor-Leste in the AKC, alongside other administrative and institutional matters.
The meeting concluded with a Welcoming Reception hosted by the Secretary-General of the AKC in honour of the delegates and other invited guests, providing an opportunity for further informal engagement and exchanges. Also in attendance were ASEAN Ambassadors based in Seoul.
