Dato’ Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea, joined fellow ASEAN Ambassadors at the opening of the ASEAN Pavilion during the 2025 Namdo International Culinary Expo in Mokpo. ASEAN-Korea Centre Secretary General Kim Jae-shin, in his opening remarks, emphasized that the Pavilion represents more than just food; it is a celebration of cultural connection and friendship between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea.
The Pavilion, themed “The Taste of Herbs & Spices: Ten Nations, One Flavorful Journey,” showcases ASEAN’s culinary diversity, featuring signature dishes from all ten member states, interactive exhibits of aromatic herbs and spices, and a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the region’s rich culinary traditions firsthand. The Malaysian booth delighted guests with the beloved nasi lemak, fragrant coconut rice served with spicy sambal, crispy anchovies, and peanuts, which offers a true taste of Malaysia’s culinary heritage.
