On August 25, 2025, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia took part in a coffee briefing session hosted by the Seoul Foreign Correspondents’ Club (SFCC), held at the SFCC Lounge. The session, titled “Imposed Challenges on the ROK–US Alliance: Alliance Transformation Under the Trump 2.0 Administration for Balancing China,” drew a crowd of around 30 attendees, primarily members of the media.
The keynote speaker, Professor Park Won Gon of Ewha Womans University, delivered an insightful presentation, offering his expert analysis on the evolving dynamics of the ROK – US alliance. He discussed the potential impact of a second Trump administration and the strategic recalibrations likely needed to manage growing tensions with China. Participants engaged in a lively and thoughtful exchanges following Prof. Park’s remarks, reflecting the importance and urgency of the topic in today’s shifting geopolitical landscape.
