On 23 June 2025, His Excellency Dato’ Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea received a courtesy call from His Excellency António de Sá Benevides, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the Republic of Korea. The meeting served as a timely platform for both sides to exchange views on Timor-Leste’s forthcoming accession to ASEAN and to reaffirm Malaysia’s steadfast support in facilitating Timor-Leste’s integration into the ASEAN Community. Discussions also touched on potential areas of collaboration between the two countries, including ongoing capacity-building efforts under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), as well as Timor-Leste’s future engagement within the ASEAN Committee in Seoul.
