On 30 July 2024, a delegation from the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment of Sarawak (MINTRED), led by the Honourable Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan undertook a working visit to Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK) with the aim to attracting high growth investment to Sarawak and learning from ROK’s policies and frameworks in order to enhance Sarawak's entrepreneurship ecosystem. During the visit, MINTRED as well as representatives from the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul had meetings with Korean counterparts including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of ROK (MOTIE), Korea Institute of Start-up and Entrepreneurship Development, Korea SMEs and Startups Agency. Despite the global uncertainty, five Korean companies have indicated their strong interest to expand their business in Sarawak, making Sarawak the key hub to produce cutting-edge technology materials.
