DPM OFFICIATES MALAYSIA DAY AT EXPO 2012 YEOSU KOREA DURING WORKING VISIT
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on 11 and 12 June 2012 made his third working visit to the Republic of Korea since assuming office. The Deputy Prime Minister officiated at the Malaysia Day celebrations at Expo Yeosu 2012 Korea on 11 June in Yeosu and made a courtesy call on Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-Sik as well as met Korean corporate leaders during a brief stopover in Seoul. Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s first visit to Korea was from 26 to 29 July 2010 in his capacity as Education Minister. The second visit was from 25 to 27 March 2012 to attend the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul.
The Malaysia Day event was one of the highlights of the Expo whereby special focus is made on one particular participating country on a day of its choice and the occasion hosted by the Expo organiser. During the Malaysia Day event, Tan Sri Muhyiddin was received by Chairman of the Organising Committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea Kang Dong-suk who also made the welcoming remarks prior to the Deputy Prime Minister’s speech to a crowd of visitors at the Expo Hall. Apart from the colourful cultural performances, the audience was also treated to songs by Malaysian artistes and a fashion show.
The event was attended by Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dato’ Sri Douglas Uggah Embas and his wife Datin Sri Doreen Mayang, H.E. Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea Dato’ Ramlan Ibrahim and his wife Datin Hafipah Mohd Shah, NRE officials and Embassy officials including Tourism Malaysia.
Later in Seoul, the Deputy Prime Minister discussed issues of bilateral, regional and international concern with the Prime Minister of Korea and attended a working dinner with captions of Korean industry and a networking session with Korean companies the following day.

The show comes to an end on a high note of dance, music and song embracing the rich cultural diversity of Malaysia.

 

 

Soon after the show, Tan Sri Muhyiddin signs the Visitors Book to mark the happy occasion.

The Pavilion themed " Malaysia's Biodiversity Haven: A Gift from Nature" captures Malaysia's rich biodiversity, both marine and terresterial, and also the country's unique multicultural harmony. The many interesting exhibits do not fail to garner the attention of the VIP guests.
