On 7 July 2025, His Excellency Dato’ Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea (ROK) held a high tea session with The Korea Herald.
The discussions primarily revolved around the multifaceted relationship between Malaysia, ASEAN, and the ROK. The meeting specifically addressed Malaysia's key priorities for strengthening bilateral ties with the ROK under President Lee Jae-myung’s leadership.
His Excellency shared his views on how Malaysia, as the ASEAN Chair in 2025, plans to engage the ROK in shaping the regional agenda, the influence of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 on the future of ASEAN–Korea cooperation, the specific roles and contributions ASEAN expects from the ROK in realising this 2045 Vision, and the practical outcomes anticipated over the next decade following the elevation of the ASEAN–ROK partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
