The Management Council of the Kedah Industrial Skills and Management Development Centre (KISMEC) made a courtesy call at the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul on 10 September 2012. The 14-member delegation was met by H.E. Dato’ Ramlan Ibrahim, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea who also delivered a general briefing on Korea-Malaysia bilateral relations. The team also made a call on Ms Dinatra Mohd Saat, the Counsellor for Education and Training, at the Embassy. KISMEC was established in 1993 under the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department to develop skills training programmes to produce semi-skilled and skilled workforce to meet the industrial needs of Malaysia. KISMEC was the direct result of the move by the Federal Government to encourage states facing a lack of engineers and technicians to establish their own respective skills development centres through partnership cooperation between the Federal Government, State Government and the private sector. The focus of the KISMEC working visit to Korea from 7 to 14 September was on high technology industries including SMEs and SMIs.
