The Langkawi Cultural Month, a joint program of Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) and Nami Island Inc., and with the support of Tourism Malaysia in Seoul, was officially launched by LADA CEO Tan Sri Khalid Ramli and CEO of Nami Island Inc. Kang Woo-hyun, at Nami Island on 21 July 2012. The first event under a LADA-Nami Inc. friendship initiative that kicked-off in May this year showcases Malaysia’s culture and beauty specifically that of Langkawi Island. Apart from traditional performances, food and craft demonstrations, visitors can enjoy a landscape photo exhibition of Langkawi Island and “elephant-themed” batik paintings by Malaysian painter and illustrator Yusof Ismail. The opening ceremony was attended by officials from Nami Island, LADA, the Prime Minister’s Office and Tourism Malaysia in Seoul. The Embassy of Malaysia in the Republic of Korea was represented by its Counsellor Ms Sulochana K Indran.
