On 4 September 2025, Dr. Mohamad Norjayadi Tamam, Deputy Director General of the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), led a delegation on a courtesy call to the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul. The meeting, lasting over an hour and a half, featured a comprehensive briefing on the outcomes of MPC’s fact-finding mission in the Republic of Korea (ROK), conducted earlier in the week. The Embassy’s Investment Counsellor was also in attendance.
The session served as an important platform for exchanging views and sharing perspectives on a wide array of socio-economic issues. Topics discussed included minimum wage policies, national productivity benchmarks, and evolving labour market dynamics. Both sides offered insights into the respective approaches undertaken by the Governments of Malaysia and the ROK in tackling contemporary challenges such as workforce efficiency, wage competitiveness, and sustainable economic growth.
Dr. Norjayadi also underscored MPC’s ongoing efforts to foster innovation-led productivity through strategic collaborations, digitalisation initiatives, and knowledge-sharing platforms. Drawing on ROK’s experience, the delegation identified several practices and models that could potentially be adapted to the Malaysian context in support of the nation’s productivity agenda.
The meeting exemplified the Embassy’s continued commitment to supporting Malaysian agencies abroad in their engagement efforts, while further enhancing bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and the ROK in the areas of human capital development, economic reform, and policy innovation.
