Malaysian Ambassador to South Korea to Grace 2009 Global Costume Festival

Mr. Jeong Jae-Min, President of the Global Costume Festival (GCF) has invited H.E. Dato’ Ramlan bin Ibrahim, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea (RoK) to the 2009 Global Costume Festival which will be held in Incheon, RoK on 28 – 29 August 2009. The Global Costume Festival is a meaningful event that creates harmony with other different cultures and peoples. It was established by Yang Myung-hwan, former President of the organization.
In this regard, two representatives from the GCF and a Hanbok designer came to the Embassy of Malaysia on Thursday, 9 July 2009 to take the Ambassador’s measurement. Hanbok is the traditional Korean dress, often characterized by vibrant colours and simple lines without pockets. The bespoke Hanbok will have to be worn by the Ambassador during the 2009 Global Costume Festival. Last year, the Festival attracted around 50 foreign diplomatic couples - parading on the stage dressed in Hanbok.
The Ambassador was presented with a Korean traditional art craft as a gift, which Ko Sung-Rye, one of the most famous Korean artists, elaborated. Ko Sung-Rye is currently the President of Hanji Arts Association and wife of Mr. Jeong Jae-Min.
