On 6 March 2025, the Embassy of Malaysia, led by Mr. Nazarudin Jaafar, Deputy Chief of Mission, welcomed a courtesy visit from Mr. Gwon Sun-tae, Deputy Director of the Division of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. During the visit, the delegation presented a letter from the Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do addressed to the Chief Minister of Sabah. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to explore potential areas of collaboration between Gyeongsangbuk-do and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, with a focus on fostering mutual benefits and strengthening ties between the two regions.
