On 20 November 2025, His Excellency Dato’ Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea, hosted a select group of Korean journalists for a special networking luncheon at Rumah Malaysia in Hannam-dong, one of Seoul’s most distinguished residential neighbourhoods. The gathering was also attended by the Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission, underscoring the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening engagement with the Korean media practitioners.
The luncheon provided a warm and informal setting for an open exchange of views. Journalists and Embassy officials engaged in candid, friendly discussions on various aspects of Malaysia–Korea relations, media cooperation, and the evolving landscape of people-to-people connectivity. The relaxed atmosphere allowed for genuine interaction, helping to deepen rapport and broaden mutual understanding.
True to Malaysia’s reputation for hospitality, the Ambassador personally introduced the guests to some of Malaysia’s most beloved dishes, including the iconic nasi lemak, alongside a selection of traditional cuisines and desserts. The culinary experience offered a taste of Malaysia’s multicultural identity and served as a conversational bridge throughout the afternoon.
The luncheon also served as a timely platform to highlight two major upcoming initiatives. The Ambassador briefed the journalists on Festival Malaysia, set to take place at Dongdaemun Design Plaza on 22 November 2025, which will showcase Malaysia’s cultural vibrancy through performances, exhibitions, and interactive experiences. In addition, he introduced the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, a year-long celebration featuring a wide range of tourism programmes, cultural showcases, and curated travel experiences aimed at welcoming more international tourists including Korean travellers to Malaysia throughout the coming year.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to continue fostering strong media relations. The Embassy reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with Korean journalists in promoting accurate, engaging, and inspiring narratives about Malaysia to the wider Korean audience.
