From 24 to 26 November 2024, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim undertook an official visit to the Republic of Korea. During this visit, a bilateral meeting with President Yoon Suk Yeol and senior government officials was held to enhance bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Korea. Several exchanges of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also witnessed.
The agenda included meetings with senior business representatives, where topics such as trade cooperation, technology exchange, and cultural diplomacy were addressed. Dato’ Seri Anwar emphasised Malaysia’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Korea, highlighting the potential for collaboration in various sectors, including education, tourism, and sustainable development.
During his visit, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar also took the opportunity to have dinner with the Malaysian diaspora residing in the Republic of Korea and delivered a special address titled “Strategic Partners in a Complex World: Malaysia, Korea, and the Future of Asia” at Seoul National University.
The visit culminated in a series of public engagements designed to promote mutual understanding and goodwill between the two countries. Dato’ Seri Anwar's visit signifies the importance of Malaysia's relationship with the Republic of Korea and sets the stage for continued dialogue and cooperation in the future.
